Dieselgate: crisis or opportunity?

Hit hard by the crisis of Dieselgate, how is D’Ieteren Auto managing the events in order to enhance its public image and turn these events into a future opportunity?

Denis Gorteman – CEO, D’Ieteren Auto

Denis Gorteman began his career in the automobile sector in 1988 when he was hired by D’Ieteren Lease, the long-term leasing company of D’Ieteren Auto, a family company and the Belgian importer of Volkswagen Group vehicles. In 1996, he was responsible for all financial transactions and became a member of the Management Committee. The new web platform was launched under his responsibility, with this platform being completely integrated into the Dealer Management system and the Importer’s databases.

In 2003, Denis Gorteman was appointed as Managing Director of D’Ieteren Lease and, with its CFO, he signed off on the first securitisation programme. In this way, the long-term leasing company was able to develop without placing a financial burden on the parent company, which resulted in a 50% increase of the fleet in 3 years.

In November 2008, Denis was appointed as Operations Strategy Manager of Belron International, the worldwide leader in the repair and replacement of car windscreens. In 2010, he won the BELRON® prize for customer service innovation, more specifically for the development of a faster service, which is a significant factor for both the Customer Delight and the turnover.

Since January 2012, Denis has served as CEO of D’Ieteren Auto and has therefore been responsible for all of the Group’s automobile sector activities in Belgium. He is also a member of the Management Committee of Volkswagen D’Ieteren Finance, the new joint venture between Volkswagen Financial Services and D’Ieteren Lease

Mr. Gorteman’s presentation will be in French.
